Every business runs on processes that quietly cost more time than they should. A quotation rebuilt from scratch each time. Inventory reconciled across four spreadsheets. A report assembled by hand every Monday morning. I find those, take them apart, and rebuild them as systems that run themselves. I learned this in procurement at Honda Atlas Cars Pakistan, costing new car models and optimising part costs, where automating my own workload turned days of manual effort into minutes. That work became the career, so I earned a degree in Software Engineering and moved into it fully. Sixteen years on, I do it with Excel and VBA, Google Apps Script, Python, and database-driven web applications, choosing whatever fits the process rather than whatever I prefer to write. The result is always the same thing: less time spent, fewer mistakes made, and a system you can run without me.
